Eid’l Fitr | Deadline for Civil Service Exam Application Period Falls on Holiday on June 5, 2019

Are you planning to take the Civil Service Exam scheduled for August 4, 2019? Don’t wait for the deadline to send your application because the last day of filing, June 5, falls on a holiday!

Last November 14, 2018, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) through Examination Announcement No. 09, s. 2018 announced the nationwide conduct of the Career Service Examination, Pen and Paper Test (CSE-PPT) for Professional and SubProfessional Levels for CY 2019 for two exam dates: March 17, 2019 and August 4, 2019.

Results of the March 17 Civil Services Exams have been released, while applications for the August 4 schedule are still being accepted in CSC offices nationwide.

For the test to be conducted on August 4, 2019, the Commission began accepting applications last May 6, 2019; the deadline is set on June 5, 2019 – and the date falls on the Muslim holiday, Eid al-Fitr, the feast that marks the end of Ramadhan.

The date is a regular holiday in the Philippines; this means that government offices will be closed on that day.

Since the CSC had declared the deadlines for the exam schedules and the deadlines for applications last year, before the Muslim community determined the schedule for their public holidays, many Civil Service Exam applicants are wondering whether the deadline will be extended.

This has happened in the past, when the CSC extended the deadline in light with the declaration of public holidays that fall on the last day of filing.

As of press time, however, the CSC has not released any announcement regarding the extension of the deadline for the August 4 test.

With June 5 being a regular holiday, applicants are hereby advised not to wait for the deadline to file their applications.

Take note that the CSC sets a target limit in the number of applicants accepted her CSC Regional/Field Office.

Acceptance of applications shall be on a FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED basis and shall be closed any time before the deadline if the CSC Regional/Field Office has already reached the target number of applicants,” the CSC announced.

This is another reason why it is important for applicants not to wait for the deadline.
