Question: Can a high school graduate or K-12 graduate take the Civil Service Exam?

There is no educational requirement in taking the Civil Service Exam! This means that even if you are just a high school graduate or K-12 graduate, you can take the test and become eligible for a government job.

This means that even if you haven’t finished elementary, you can still take the test! Of course, while it is possible for you to take the test even without completing high school or even elementary, passing the test is a different thing.

Remember that you still have to pass the test to get eligibility. But you can enroll in review classes or find online resource materials to help you review for the Civil Service Exam.

Question: What are the Civil Service Exam Requirements?

Even if you can take the test without presenting any diploma, you must still qualify for the Civil Service Exam with the following requirements:

  • Filipino citizen;
  • At least 18 years old on the date of filing of application;
  • Of good moral character;
  • Has not been convicted by final judgment of an offense or crime involving moral turpitude, or disgraceful or immoral conduct, dishonesty, examination irregularity, drunkenness, or addiction to drugs;
  • Has not been dishonorably discharged from military service, or dismissed for cause from any civilian position in the government; and
  • Has not taken the same level of Career Service Examination, regardless of mode, within the last three months before the date of examination (three-month prohibition period).

Question: Can I find a job in the government after passing Civil Service Exam?

Technically, you are eligible to be accepted in any government position that is within your eligibility; however, most jobs also require a certain level of education. You have to check the requirements for that particular job.

Also, you’ll be competing with other applicants who might be more qualified for the job based on their educational attainment and related working experience.

Question: Can I take the Professional Test without an elementary diploma?

Again, yes! Even the professional test is open for everyone because the sub-professional and professional levels do not refer to educational attainment but the jobs you could work for in the government.

However, it might be more difficult to pass the professional exam if you haven’t completed, say, your elementary education. But if you feel that you can pass the test, then you are welcome to try.
