The Philippines’ police force is looking for 17,000 new cops to fill in vacancies for 2020 – and basic salaries will start at Php29,668 even for new hires! This is certainly good news to many young people looking for a job.
In a statement, the Philippine National Police (PNP) announced that the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and the National Police Commission (Napolcom) authorized them to fill up 17,000 vacancies. Of this number, 10,000 will be for the regular recruitment quota while the additional 7,000 will fill in the quota to replace police personnel who retired, lost their lives, dismissed from active duty, or have gone on absence without official leave (AWOL).
“The annual recruitment program has taken Philippine law enforcement to a higher level by closing the gap in the police-to-population ratio to within ideal limits set by law,” explained PNP officer in charge Lt. Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa. He added a call for able-bodied Filipinos, aged 21 to 30, to join the country’s police force.
“We want the largest pool of applicants that we can muster from which to select only the best and most qualified candidates that will be recruited into the police service.”
